Risks Factors for Falls in Elderly and How to Prevent Them

A statistical study of the WHO (World Health Organization) among the elderly in Europe found that

Approximately 30% of people over 65 and 50% of people over 80 fall each year. The number of falls is likely to increase by 3 times once a fall had occurred.

20-30% of the elderly who had experienced a fall most likely suffer injuries that affect their movement and ability to self-care, which leads to other health problems and increase in the risk of premature death.

In these studies, several methods were found to help prevent falls in the elderly's homes. One of them includes Home Modifications for the elderly, especially in the area where there's highly risk of falls i.e. the bathroom.
